About the event

Day 1 – what to expect

The first day of the programme will cover all aspects in the assessment and diagnosis of unexplained exertional breathlessness and suspected EILO.

A mixture of tutorial style lectures, Q and A sessions and direct ‘hands-on-experience’ practical sessions will provide all the necessary information required to understand and be competent in clinically assessing individuals referred with unexplained exertional breathlessness and a potential diagnosis of EILO.

Attendees will be able to observe and obtain some direct hands-on experience of laryngoscope placement, for CLE testing, and understand the sequence of events necessary to deliver a CLE test safely. Practical diagnostic sessions will be from a repository of diagnostic CLE videos.

Day 2 – what to expect

Day 2 of the Practicum focuses on therapeutic approach; with tutorial-style lectures providing the current ‘state-of-the-art’ knowledge allied with speaker’s experience regarding the best ways to treat individuals with EILO. Direct biofeedback and therapeutic laryngoscopy during exercise are also covered on day 2.

Throughout the Practicum, the style will be interactive, with attendees spending time discussing cases and their clinical experience and the ability to interact in a friendly and supportive environment to facilitate improved clinical acumen and confidence in this area.

Extensive and bespoke course material will be provided.
